Cotswolds number two - Upper Slaughter

After Bourton on the Water, it was a journey of only a couple of kilometres to the delightfully named village of Upper Slaughter. I'm not aware that it was ever the scene of a slasher movie but it was certainly a pretty place. Again, all the buildings were constructed from the gorgeous, golden honey coloured Cotswold stone. While I was there looking at the ford I had a strange encounter, more of that later. First of all, some quaintness of  a chocolate box nature.

While I was looking at this lovely scene a woman carrying a fold-up chair, and a child carrying a book, walked past me down the lane to the ford at the bottom. The woman unfolded the chair and placed it in the middle of the ford and the child sat on it and began to read the book while the woman started taking photos. I just couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures of this slightly bizarre situation. I'm not sure whether it passes for child abuse and if it does, I have evidence. I know one thing, the water looked very cold.

Coming next, predictably, Lower Slaughter.
