Man charged with drunk driving a ride-on lawnmower

A man with twice the legal breath alcohol level has been nabbed by Northland police while driving a lawnmower.
Police said the 52-year-old Dargaville man was seen driving his ride-on lawnmower through the town about 9.30 last night.
The officer went to ask the man to get off the road and discovered the man was a disqualified driver and that he had been drinking.
The man blew 926mgms/litre of breath, more than twice the legal limit of 400mgms/litre of breath.
Police say his lawnmower was impounded for 28 days and he will be appearing in the Dargaville District Court this week facing charges of careless driving, driving while disqualified and driving with excess breath alcohol.
My two Kiwi cents.
I realise that this is serious, that rules are rules and that lawnmowers can be dangerous, but this story just strikes me as being so Kiwi.
