I had one of my three-day week-ends, which are nice, but this one was more stressful than normal. The time had come round for me to get my car MOTed. For those of you in the southern hemisphere, that's like the WOF, or Warrant of Fitness. I feel that this process is like legal kidnapping. You deliver your car to the garage, go home and then wait for the phone call to tell you how big the ransom demand is going to be. Waiting around, just not knowing what needs to be done and how expensive it's likely to be is the worst part. I know it's stupid, but I can never settle to anything during that time. I have to get it done whatever, and I can't use the car without it but it's still awkward somehow.
As luck would have it, I only needed a new tyre, and I'd guessed that beforehand, so it wasn't too bad. By the end of Friday afternoon, I had paid the ransom and got my car back.
The weather was awful over the week-end. It was really windy, and raining most of the time. A lot of the fields on the lowland around where I live were flooded and I really wanted to go out and take photos but it was too miserable for that. At least I got a lot of my overseas Christmas presents wrapped and packaged up ready to go. I can't believe how quickly time is running out. In two weeks time I will be in The Netherlands with nothing more to be done, but between now and then I still have a lot to do. Best get on with it I suppose!
