We've been here before

Last week my favourite cousins came to stay. I took Thursday off work to spend the day with Hannah and her friend Sarah. It was wet in the morning but looked like it was brightening so we set off about 10.30. First I drove to Kilve Beach, a real favourite place of mine. The tide was just on the way out and we got a different view of the place as it was slowly revealed by the third highest tidal reach in the world.

The stream that normally just seeps over the stones to the sea was a real torrent and I had great fun trying to get some action shots of the water; childish, I know, but fun.

This is the stream as it plucks up courage to trickle down over the stones. On this day it was a much bigger affair.

I loved this little jet of water escaping from a rock pool

And this flowing out of the cliff face

Climbing up to the cliff top path, this chap caught my eye.

Wild flowers always delight me

Teazels

And a bee on burdock

Then it was off to The Plough in Holford for lunch (thanks Hannah) followed by a stomp up through Hodder's Combe.

The beauty of the place speaks for itself, I think. The streams here were swollen because of all the rain.

Wet and warm means, fungusseseses

Finally, a couple of pictures of the going through the woods. It was fun crossing streams and walking up through the bracken to, almost, the skyline, and I had some of the best company anyone could wish for. Thanks to Hannah and Sarah, I had a great day.
