The usual English one

The weather has been amazing here in the south west of England. For the past ten days or so it has been gloriously sunny and really warm. One day towards the end of last week the temperature topped thirty degrees. This morning was nice, early on, then it started to cloud over . By the time I went out to get my sandwich at lunchtime it was raining. Well, the word ‘raining’ doesn’t really do it justice. It was raining so hard that it was bouncing and coming down again – two rain storms for the price of one. Walking, or dashing through the streets of the town was almost impossible as there were all these people, better prepared than me, with umbrellas. Umbrellas are very socially unfriendly things, or at least, the people who wield them are. I lost count of the times I was bashed about the head by one of these multi-coloured flimsy personal mushrooms. No-one said ‘sorry’, no-one appeared to care as long as they stayed dry and showered everyone else with their own cast-off rain. I like the rain, I like walking in the rain but I really don’t like doing it when there are other people with umbrellas around. They are dangerous and unforgiving.
End of rant. Maybe the sun will come out again later.
