Just to let you all know that I'm back from my few days in Scotland.
In a totally opposite way to my time in Switzerland, I can't say I had the best time. It was great, great to be with Rebekka and Philippe again, great to be in Scotland - the land of the ancestors of one side of my family, great to be somewhere I hadn't been before, but not great to be doing all those things in a howling gale with seemingly perpetual horizontal rain. While my southern home was basking in unbroken sunshine, the west of Scotland and particularly the bit of it that I was either standing or camping on was getting increasingly drenched and blown away. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed most of it, but was officially 'grumpy' on Sunday because of the weather and being at a loss for something to do and officially 'not happy' about the first day of my two-day journey home. (Six hours driving after leaving Oban and I still hadn't left Scotland, for one thing.) But that doesn't detract from visiting some gorgeous places, having moments of sunshine, being with my wonderful friend Rebekka (the extra long, special hug on Sunday morning when I was feeling really down was a great help) and making the best we could of the short time we had.
There will be tales and photos in the next few days, and I would like to thank everyone for their kind wishes and hopes of a good time.
