Wanaka tree

Sherborne Old Castle, Dorset

I find it hard to believe that I took these photos nearly two weeks ago. Where does the time go? I also find it hard to believe that it's two weeks since Hannah was here for that great week-end. I'm really going to miss these week-ends when she's spending the next year divided between University in Spain and working in France. I hope I'll get the chance to visit her while she's away.

Anyway, we went to Sherborne Old Castle. It's not much more than a half an hour's drive away but had, for some reason, totally passed me by, or put more accurately, I had passed it by on many occasions. It used to be owned by Walter Raleigh. It's now very much a romantic ruin in the grounds of the house he had built to replace it but I have a love of castle ruins and find them much more interesting and worthwhile visiting than all the stately homes we have dotted around here.

Hannah, dwarfing the ruins of Sherborne Old Castle with her absolute wonderfulness.
