Wanaka tree

*Does a relieved and happy dance*

So, it looks like I'm getting my life back.

The website I've been putting my heart and soul into, that has taken so much of my time and that has made me not even want to look at a computer when I'm not actually being paid to, has been 'live' for about ten days now. If anyone feels they would like to have a look around then the url is It's not a very exciting website, what local government site is? But I think it does its job well and certainly has a clean, crisp new look and feel to it. Just so that you know, any page you land on that has the word 'Community' next to the 'responsibility' tag is one I have sweated blood over at some stage or other. My stuff accounts for about a third of the enormous site. Since it went 'live' I've been busy trouble-shooting and tidying things up so that it all looks a bit better and works the way I want it. And that will probably continue for the next couple of weeks, then, finally it will be business as usual and I can relax a bit more.

It will be really nice to get out and take photos again, get out in the fresh air, or even the rain, at week-ends - rather than just burrowing myself away because I'm too knackered and can't be bothered. It will be great to get back to using LJ properly again, catching up with you all and being the kind of friend I want to be - rather than the reclusive, silent friend I seem to have been for far too long. I've missed you all and my occasional forays into the LJ world just haven't been enough. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and it is a good light.

So, once again, I'm sorry that I haven't been as attentive as I should have been, or wanted to be, but, I'm getting my life back, so I hope I'm getting my friends back too.
In a couple of weeks I will be in The Netherlands, staying with friends over Christmas. It will be a great chance to unwind, to be with people who mean a great deal to me and to take photos I don't have the opportunity to take every day. I'm really looking forward to that.

Before that I have to get my head around the last of my Christmas shopping and make sure that everything that should have been done has been done. Then I can get into the mood and go with the flow and have a good break. For the first time ever I'm taking a long break over the Christmas period. I didn't have a holiday during the summer because of the webby stuff, so I think I deserve it. So, when I finish work on Monday 21 December I will know that Christmas can begin and I won't have to concern myself with work until 4 January. That will be nice and it will give me my life back.
