At the beginning of July I will be on the shores of Loch Lomond, undoubtedly admiring the view. Rebekka and Philippe are hiring an old VW campervan for a couple of weeks and touring Scotland. So, we all thought it would be a great idea if I could join them for a bit. They will be flying into Edinburgh from Zurich on 29 June and picking their van up the next day. We decided to meet up at Loch Lomond on the first of July. This is about the most southerly point on their tour. I will have an at least eight hour drive to make the rendezvous, but it's still worth it. Then I will share their journey for a few days until they reach Oban. That's about as far north as I can go and still get an unbroken journey home. It's not as long as I would have liked, but it still gets me into the heart of Scotland's west coast and the delights that await us there.
As it was our rendezvous point, I thought it was best to book our place in the campsite, so that's what I've just accomplished. Of course, even though we have shared tents and rooms in the past, an old VW camper would be just a little too cosy for three of us. So, not only have I booked a pitch for their van, I've also booked a pitch for me in a tent.
Now all I have to do is get myself there. Oh, yes, I also have to get a tent! Must remember to do that before I set off.
Never mind, the important things are being dealt with. For the past week or so I have been putting together compilation CDs of a mixture of Scottish, travelling and sunshine weather music for them to listen to as they negotiate their way around the north of Britain. I hope they like what I've done for them.
So, just under seven weeks to go.
