Paul - who brings friendly nonsense

It feels very strange being back at work today after taking two weeks off to show Rebekka and her boyfriend around the south west of England. Just having to be somewhere at a specific time is quite hard after two weeks of pleasing ourselves.

The job I do is very varied and interesting and allows me quite a lot of scope to exercise my writing talents as well as my artistic eye. I have to design display material for the public, bearing in mind all the things we have to think about, discrimination, inclusiveness, plain language and others. I also get to write information in a way that it can be easily understood. I have been helped by going on a course about plain English and how it should be used, to the extent that I am now organising a workshop myself in a few weeks. I also get to put information onto the Council's website. While all of this makes for an enjoyable job, it is still no substitute for having lazy days and enjoying the world I live in. I also have to bear in mind that this is only a temporary job and, while I know I will be around for some time yet, it will come to an end at some point and I have no idea what I will be doing after that. But, all the time, I am learning new skills and using the ones I already have. For the time being it's fun.

At least while the English weather is being very unsettled and moody it is not so bad being stuck in an office.
