Remember me?

Hello world, I'm back in circulation after a very busy week-end, a really hectic week and another very busy week-end. Did you miss me? I'm sorry I haven't been around but I have been entertaining on a grand scale. I'll try to put things into some sort of order.

On Friday 22 August, in the early evening after work, I went to Bridgwater to meet Monika, gaia_child , when she arrived on a bus from Heathrow Airport. Although she's from Poland, Monika had flown from Helsinki to get here. Meeting LJ friends for the first time, even when you have known each other online for some time can be a bit strange, especially when one of you has been travelling for well over twelve hours. Happily, we got on very well from the start and picked up an Indian take-away before heading home. It took Monika a day or so to settle in, which was understandable, but from then on she had a great time.

On the Sunday, I met up with my friend Babs again, now near the end of her holiday in the UK and we became a travelling trio for a couple of days - hitting such places as Glastonbury, Tarr Steps and Dunkery on Exmoor and Kilve Beach. Babs flew home on Tuesday and this allowed Monika to have an unencumbered day in Glastonbury while I took Babs back to Bristol Airport. On the way to the airport we stopped off for a walk and a chat at the Shapwick Heath nature reserve.

I had to work for a day and a bit during the week but this didn't get in the way of Monika making the most of her time here. We went to Lyme Regis on Thursday afternoon and evening and this gave Monika the chance to have fish and chips eaten out of the paper in the time-honoured way. Friday was mostly spent driving but we did stop off at Stonehenge, Stourhead House and gardens and Nunney Castle on the way home.
All in all it was a great time. Monika had a really early flight out of Bristol on Sunday morning and we had to leave home at four o'clock so that she was there in time to check-in and get through the airport for a seven o'clock getaway.

Monika, it was great to finally meet you, to spend some time with you and to show you a few snapshots of the part of the world I live in. It was a delight to get to know you and to share some fun experiences in the places we visited, as well as at home. I look forward to your next visit, whenever it is, and am already planning lots of new places to go to. Thanks for coming, for the pressies and for adding lots of fun to everything we did.

Photos of some of our visits and journeys will be appearing here shortly. Watch this space.
