Cotswolds number three - Lower Slaughter

From Upper Slaughter and it's slightly bizarre people, I drove back to Lower Slaughter. I'd driven through it on the way to Upper Slaughter but couldn't find anywhere to park. Even here the sightseer invasion had had its effect. It's a slightly more reserved kind of place with no-one making an obvious exhibition of themselves. It is also quaint and picturesque and I could understand why the steady stream of visitors were there. Cameras were in heavy evidence and trained on the cottages and houses. By picking my moments and waiting for people to pass I managed to make it look almost like I was there alone, though that was far from the case.

The old mill

A reminder that it is still winter; logs piled up in the porch of a cottage.

And that's pretty much it for the photos I took in The Cotswolds.

From Lower Slaughter we went up to Stow on the Wold, but couldn't park anywhere. From there I drove around some back roads to a quiet spot where we had a picnic lunch before heading back towards home. We did try to call in at the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust Centre at Slimbridge but the car park, and the overflow car park, were full so we decided not to go in. In a way it was the price to pay for it being the first really gorgeous day of the year. There is always another day!
